Transformational Bathroom Trends in 2025

Are you ready to upgrade your bathroom? Watch out for these inviting bathroom trends in 2025.

A 2025 Bath Trends Report, based on a survey of 500 members of the National Kitchen & Bath Association, looked at trends impacting residential bathroom design. Respondents included designers, manufacturers, remodelers, architects, and others closely attuned to homeowners’ preferences and desires for bathrooms. Tile Letter magazine says the survey results showed that for primary residential bathrooms, “creating a spa-like experience through integrated technology, lighting, color, and material are at the forefront.”

From designing a bathroom focused on health and wellness to incorporating convenient smart technologies, homeowners are increasingly viewing their bathrooms as personal retreats. That’s why in 2025, we can expect to see more natural light, innovative storage solutions, larger showers, soaking tubs for relaxation, luxurious floor and surface materials, and more. Let’s consider, in light of the Trend Report, what you might want to incorporate in your 2025 bathroom renovation project.

Draw Renovation Inspiration from Hotels, Spas, and Resorts

Have you ever thought about recreating in your own home the aesthetically pleasing and rejuvenating experience offered by a well-designed bathroom in a high-end hotel, spa, or resort?

Consider this… high-end hotels hire the most talented interior designers to create bathrooms that go beyond mere functionality and focus on creating an immersive experience for guests. Every aspect, from layout to materials, lighting, and luxury features, is meticulously planned to ensure comfort and style. These bathrooms leave a lasting impression, making guests feel relaxed and pampered. It makes sense to emulate the ideas of these talented designers in your own home. By drawing inspiration from the colors, materials, layouts, and other aspects of these luxurious spaces, you can transform your primary bathroom into a personal retreat.

Soothing Colors Deliver Comfort

Tile Letter says in 2025 we will see a “return to a 1970s color palette with earthy, neutral colors.” The top five colors in the Trends Report were: white (76%), green (71%), blue (55%), gray (44%), and brown (44%). Muted tones of soft, calming colors help create a serene atmosphere that can encourage relaxation and help reduce stress. With the right color palette, your bathroom can be a peaceful retreat.

Elegant Materials Prioritize Style

Choosing high-quality vanity top materials like marble, granite, or quartz not only adds sophistication but also ensures the bathroom maintains a timeless, luxurious look that enhances its overall aesthetic.

For flooring and walls, including shower walls, choose natural stoneceramic, or porcelain tile, which hold up well when exposed to water or moisture. Glazed porcelain will usually outperform ceramic tile, but ceramic tile will hold up well, too.

Thoughtful Layouts With Luxurious Elements and Features

When it comes to layout, the more space you have, the better. According to the Trend Report, homeowners are turning their primary baths into serene, sanctuaries that focus on health, wellness, and relaxation. These spaces are inspired by hotel and resort bathrooms, which often have a sleek vanity or sink area adjacent to a separate private toilet and bathing space. When square footage is minimal, homeowners are opting to remove bathtubs to increase available space.

If you prefer to break away from the typical sink designs seen in most homes, check out standalone sinks. They can make a bold style statement.

Elements and features in the Trend Report prioritize homeowners’ well-being. In your bathroom, this might look like a shower designed for rehabilitation, complete with steam therapy, chromotherapy (a.k.a. color therapy), and the soothing power of aromatherapy. Pair this with a deep soaking tub for practical reasons, like promoting physical healing and muscle recovery, or for the simple pleasure of unwinding after a long day.

Combine Hardware Finishes & Tile for a Cohesive Look

Your choice of faucets, cabinet handles, towel rods and hooks, and other hardware can mimic the refined elegance of the most stunning hotel, spa, or resort bathrooms. Try pairing these finishes and tiles:

  • Chrome & whites
  • Gold & marble or marble-look
  • Champaign bronze & creams
  • Oil rubbed bronze & warm colors
  • Brushed nickel & dark, light, and/or retro
  • Rose gold & Zellige
  • Matte black & almost any tile

Smart Technologies Maximize Convenience

The trend to embrace smart technology in bathrooms continues and shows no sign of slowing down. If you want a more efficient, comfortable, and personalized bathroom experience, the possibilities are virtually endless. Use the smart device of your choice to control features in your bathroom. Here are some high-tech features to consider:

Ideal Lighting

Over ninety percent of survey respondents consider lighting quality and natural light to be an important part of bathroom design. Ideal lighting can be achieved in a variety of ways, from doors and windows to recessed lights to overhead lights. Lighted mirrors, sconces, and bold light fixtures or chandeliers are other options.

Sets of Two

Another trend we’re seeing in bathroom designs is sets of two. Homeowners looking for a more functional design are opting for double vanities. Shower spaces are becoming larger, with double shower heads.

Solutions to Control Clutter

Customized storage solutions with integrated power outlets are desired features in modern bathrooms. Your bathroom will be easy to keep organized and clutter-free with custom drawer systems and cabinets, equipped with charging stations. You can easily store makeup, toiletries, towels, and more, and charge electric razors, toothbrushes, and devices without wrestling with extra cords or clutter.
